Analogue Joystick Interfaces
Analogue joystick interfaces use analogue-to-digital
conversion to measure joystick movement rather than
simply detecting the direction as an on/off signal.
This section covers analogue joystick interfaces
designed for the ZX Spectrum.
Midwich joystick board
Analogue joystick interface board for the ZX-81 and ZX Spectrum, supporting two joysticks via six-way DIN sockets. The board uses a ZN499E A/D converter to provide 8-bit readings from 0–255 for each joystick axis (N/S and E/W). The FIRE buttons are read through a second port, providing separate digital inputs. Supplied as a kit or assembled unit.
